Anemone S. (they/them/all)
Founder & Director
It all began with letters to Santa, pleading for a dog…
Since then, Anemone’s life and career have revolved around animals. Their first job at 16 was as an Adoptions Coordinator at a tiny animal rescue, where they were the sole staff member, pulling animals from high kill shelters, facilitating adoptions, and coordinating outreach.
Later, they started their own pet sitting and dog walking business at 17. At 20, they completed an apprenticeship in canine behavior and became certified in Animal Reiki, and by 22, they became a professional groomer, well recognized for their gentle touch and impeccable customer care.
Anemone (aka Nemo) eventually opened a brick-and-mortar grooming shop that also served as a community space and, at 33, completed training as an Animal Companion Death Doula. Throughout it all, they continued fostering and rescuing animals.
After caring for pets and their people since 2010, Anemone launched Speranza Pet to bring their experiences together around a simple belief: caring for animals means caring for the whole relationship between people and their pets. Without meaningful support for both, people are left without the capacity they need, and animals continue to suffer.
Caring for animals means caring for people, too.
