If there are no current listings, you may fill out an interest form so we can help locate a potential pet in need that fits your home and lifestyle.
Our Matchmaking Process
1. Submit an Interest Form
Tell us about yourself, your home, and what you're looking for in a companion. You may submit an interest form even if we do not have any pets in need currently listed!
2. Initial Review
We review your submission to confirm whether or not you're eligible to move forward. If you are, we will send you the password to the full application.
3. Complete a Full Matchmaking Application
If your interest form is satisfactory, we'll invite you to apply with more details about your home, experience, energy level, family, and what you're looking for. A $25 non-refundable processing fee applies.
4. Application Review & Approval
We review your application and decide whether to proceed. Approval is not guaranteed.
5. Conversation & Assessment
Once approved, we'll talk through details, check references, and may request a home visit.
6. Meet & Greet
If we have a good potential pet match, we'll arrange a meeting with the pet. This step does not guarantee final placement.
7. Ownership Transfer
If everything feels good on our end as well as yours, we finalize the match with a signed pet ownership transfer agreement, a deposit, and an ownership transfer fee. You're not the legal owner until this is step is fully complete.
8. Ongoing Support
Our relationship doesn't end at placement! We're here to support you and your new companion as you settle in. We will follow up by phone call or email at 2 weeks, 2 months, and 6 months just to check in and ensure you and your pet feel fully supported in your new bond.

Fostering an adoptable animal means providing a safe, loving temporary home while they wait for their forever family. It’s a rewarding way to help an animal in need while experiencing pet ownership to see if it’s right for you.
Piccola is foster-based, meaning our adoptable animals live in approved foster homes rather than shelters. This provides a calmer environment and helps set animals up for more successful, lasting adoptions.
All foster homes are carefully reviewed and approved by our rescue.
